Global Outreach Program

The Global Outreach Programme is  designed to develop students into leaders with international exposure. This opportunity should not be missed by our students because throughout the programme, the students are able to:

  • Globalise their educational experience by adding an international dimension to their degree
  • Enhance academic opportunities beyond those offered at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
  • Establish professional and career opportunities by networking with other students, academics and professional organisations
  • Improve language skills, cross-cultural understanding,  and interpersonal communication
  • Experience personal growth by developing self confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Incorporate these new experiences into their resume so that they stand out from the crowd in an increasingly global workforce

This programme was initiated in 2005, when a group of students in Bioprocess Engineering department proudly traveled to China on their own expenses collected through various money generating events at the university. This famous Overseas Trip Group then expanded their willpower and made the voyage to Taiwan (2007) and Thailand (2008). From this programme the students indirectly promote our department and UTM to overseas university students through cultural exchange and visits to various bioprocess and biotechnology industries including universities.
